1954 Renault Fregate

This is a French Imported 1954 Renault Fregate and it is now fully UK registered.  

The bodywork is very original, It has had very little welding in the past and is incredibly solid for it's age. It has a lot of surface rust as you can see which has be wax oiled for preservation. The underside and all cavities, sills, box sections have also been treated with top quality Bilt Hamber wax oiling products. 

I have the original bumpers for it, the chrome is pretty poor though.  

The car has been recommissioned, Brake master and wheel cylinders rebuilt, relined rear brake shoes,flexi hoses, new tyres, new big and good quality 6V battery. exhaust box etc.

I fitted a later(1957) 2.2L Fregate engine which runs perfectly and is pretty powerful! 

It drives very well, very smooth, pulls well and brakes are very good for a mid 50's car. 

I lowered it 60-80mm, you wouldn't know from driving it though. a spare set of standard springs is included with the spares if you want to return it to original height.  

Interior is original and fairly presentable. unfortunately the seat covers are a bit fragile and could do with being retrimmed.
